Here we go again, folks,

Drupal is cool because it is updated frequently. Watch me smirk as those who fail to update get hacked, sorry folks, anytime you install something you gotta sign up for the newsletter...

Still for the version jumps, can't you boys have just a little sympathy for those of us with more than a few sites? Here I am, only a few sites upgraded to 4.6 and we are into a code freeze for 4.7....

For some reason, there is no way to tell in advance if a site will take the upgrade well. It is worse with a version upgrade because all files must be deleted and the new ones uploaded. Maybe nobody notices when one of my sites is down someewhere from a half hour to possibly all day, but it is something I dread and usually don't upgrade until I have to.

Typically, I disable all modules that are not in the core, back up my database,
then if it is a version upgrade I delete the old files and upload the new. Yes, the site is down now. After that, the database update. Sometimes that goes well. Other times, I restore the backed up database and try again, reading the error messages for a clue. Do I really need that table, or is it already compatable? Why, after upgrading five sites, is the sixth giving me grief? Why did I abandon flat files anyway?

Nnot really sure if I am learning anything here, or if simp;y staying afloat is the only goal
